Movies / Screenplays

When I first started writing seriously to become published, I never dreamed I’d being doing half the things I’m currently doing.  Like any author I’d always dreamed of having one of my books turned into a film.  I never dreamed I’d become part of the filmmaking process.  From scriptwriter and actress, to stunt woman and set decorator, I’ve grown as a person and a writer.

A date with Destiny in late 2006 put my husband and I together with a wonderful man who was interested in doing a film, but needed a script and actors.  At the time I had a short story, and in nine days turned it into a 30-minute script.  A meeting over a cup of coffee led to a contract and together we pooled all our resources, talents, and good old- fashioned hard work into this project.  We produced a $100,000 film for $4,000 with the help and support of our community and friends.

Our film was accepted at the Melbourne Independent Filmakers Festival in November 2007 and was nominated for “Best Dramatic Short.” This film which is currently available on DVD with an hour and half of special features included has garnered us enough attention to where a Producer’s Rep in California is actively securing a $10-$20 million dollar budget for a full theatrical release of this same story.  The script is getting a lot of good response from the actors, distributors, and financiers we’ve approached thus far and hope to start production sometime in 2009.  This story will also be published as a novel to compliment the film’s release.

This experience has broadened my skill sets and has taught me how to adapt and change scenes while keeping the overall story arc intact making me more fluid in my creative processes.  These new skills are demonstrated in the new feature version of this story that will even have a new and surprise twist ending, and has improved the writing of my novels.  We hope you enjoy the film, which is only the beginning of this new venture...
